There are currently 4 different roles in rdr2 online, all in which are going to give you great money in different ways. For a starter the best role is most likely bounty hunter, because you can get decent gold, money and xp. I would also work on getting a good horse early on in the game, which will help enormously on bounty hunts. War horses don’t get afraid as often as other horses, so that could be a good horse to get in the beginning. A good gun to get as soon as you can is the Lancaster Repeater. That is mostly the best advise I can give to a new player on rdr2. Have fun!

You can get good money as trader and moonshiner as well. Trader is a real grind until level 10 when you get the cart though so you’d have to be in the mood for it to do it. And your camp needs to be in a spot good for hunting. Also for bounties a reinforced lasso helps bc sometimes they will escape if they’ve been tied up awhile.
