It would be dependant whether John would be useful. If it is 1907 or 1911 John then it's fine but in 1899 he is much weaker and less skilled. Dutch in Chapters 1-4 would be an ok choice but Chapter 5 onwards he's a maniac. Sadie would be my last pick since she's reckless as hell. If Micah was loyal in that particular mission, it makes sense to pick him, since he's a great shot, but if you were to get injured, he'd probably leave you for dead so that he could escape. Also, let's not forget that Micah is reckless as hell. Charles is also a great shot, and can take out enemies quietly, and would never leave you for dead, so I'd say Charles would be a great companion. Same goes for Arthur, in which Arthur is a great shot, and is very capable of stealth too, and he too would never leave you for dead. In the end it all comes down to personal preference between Arthur and Charles to which I prefer Arthur.

I disagree with the assessment that 1899 John is weaker than any other iteration of him. He's still fully trained, and dialogue implies we see him at his worst during 1899. Before then, he was beginning to even outshine Arthur, and is referred to as the "Golden Boy" and one of Dutches "Aces in the hole"

@Leon the Lamp42069 Yeah I agree that he was fully trained but in the 8 years gap he trained himself to become a better gunslinger (hence getting Dead-Eye) so I feel that he was a bit weaker than Arthur and his future selves

Accidentally chose John (who is my second choice) but I would totally bring Dutch if he’s not gonna betray me. Man is the best shot in the series and a pretty smooth talker too. As long as Dutch isn’t crazy he’d get you out of most predicaments.
