"Our time, is pretty much passed".
As much as I enjoyed "That's The Way It Is" as Arthur's "final ride" song, I personally think this would've been better... "Knocking on Heaven's Door" was written in 1973 by Bob Dylan to accompany Sam Peckinpah's Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, another film about the fading of the Old West and the fate all outlaws are doomed to suffer. Here are the lyrics... The tune is sad and mournful and I think the lyrics fit just perfectly with Arthur's whole story- his time as a killer, his battle against tuberculosis, his quest for redemption and his coming to peace with his own inevitably violent end: "we're thieves in a world that don't want us no more". Let me know what you think in the comments below...
Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, eh yeah
Mama put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore
That cold black cloud is comin' down
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, wow oh yeah
