John Marston’s Possibly Blind Left Eye?

So I’ve looked around on Reddit and it appears that a fan theory of John Marston possibly being blind emerged from the evidence of a line from John that I personally don’t think is connected, aswell as The Zombie Marston outfit and the Deadly Assassins outfits both show possibilities. One Johns eye is missing with it covered in maggots and worms and the eye-patch he wears aswell, also the line some redditors think could be related “Looks like a just got my eye back.” Which I don’t think is connected. What are your thoughts on the matter?

EDIT: Also if you dig deeply enough you'll find old theories in the edit history of John Marston's article here on the Red Dead wiki, but you may to go back several years to find anything substantial.

In RDR2, if you are in cover on the edge of a wall on the left, your character will aim with their left hand and presumably with their left eye
