I was just talking story wise Charles and Sadie would have been alive by the events of red dead one even though game wise they didn’t exist

Charles was in Canada and sadie was in South America so I guess Ross and the bureau taking John's family prevented him from asking for help either that or John didn't wanna risk them dying after what happened in American venom

That is true. At the same time Abagail could have sent a letter or to them to let them know what was going on and to ask for help. All she has to do was what Sadie had done change the names up to make out seem like family members or something
