Nothing in my posts implies I didn’t understand how drafting works in the U.S. at all, I was simply taking into account the fact that he’s an individual who is shown to have developed a strong disdain for the U.S. government and would thus be highly unlikely to abide by an order to join the organization that participated in killing his father.

Again, he would still have to willingly respond to this summon but avoiding it also doesn’t mean he’d be forced to flee the country. This is prior to Vietnam and as such, the government lacked the resources, technology, and societal infrastructure to round up all those who would refuse a draft order, and on the side of the country the surviving Marston resides, plenty of spots to lay low from authorities even in the time period. But to your point, Mexico is just across the border.

As for being an outlaw, this is heavily implied to be the case through his killing of Edgar Ross, as his status means his death is highly unlikely to go unnoticed.

Overall, the sole piece of evidence supporting the concept of Jack Marston serving in the U.S. military in WWI is simply that the conflict was going on during the time.

Combine all other known details about the character, it falls apart entirely.

A draft dodging Jack Marston, caught and forced into the army, might make for an interesting backdrop.

But still…once again…I hope they go backwards. :) I want to see some Apache warriors proud and free, and the 7th cavalry.

I just had a thought…would going back to the Civil War be too far? The frontier (and even places like Kansas and Missouri) were very dangerous during the war, and that political backdrop could make for some interesting encounters. Didn’t Dutch’s dad fight for the Union? That might make an intriguing connection.

Maybe we could also see that Confederate soldier who is in Lemoyne always bitching to Arthur.

That’s another method I’ve seen thrown around whenever the subject is brought up rather often. It doesn’t take much thought to realize that the U.S. military would have no reason to pursue him for that specific purpose since he has nothing to offer them like his father had.

In their eyes, he murdered an aged former decorated director of an intelligence agency in cold blood.

In his, they’re the real criminals.

If anything, it just proves my point on the matter, as despite the concept of Jack joining the U.S. military being void of plausibility whatsoever, proponents will offer null explanations in an attempt to justify it.

@RushW Just my opinion, but if someone can stir up a huge media backlash just by feeding the Saint Denis suffragette to an alligator on YouTube, then using the US civil war as a backdrop with the current social climate here in America seems like an especially risky proposition.

I want to see how the gang formed, I want Arthur to be a playable character again but in his 20s. I want to see how the gang's journey began.

I would love for a Mexico expansion. We could get to play as a Del Lobo member. Or even an Odriscoll or Lemoyne Raider expansion, where they could tie a character into the original story. Something like GTA 4. We could get to play as Colm, or we could even have a cops and robbers expansion where we could be agent Milton
