I love Beecher’s Hope. It’s where you end Red Dead Redemption II, it’s where a peaceful ranching life has finally been promised to you after a grueling and dangerous process of seven previous chapters. The montage building the house is so nostalgic and cool, but post-epilogue Beecher’s is kind of underwhelming.
Despite the fact that I love that I can live in a house with the Marstons, there’s not much to do. Other than a few pre-set conversations and broken dialogue, there’s not much to do.
What I think Beecher’s is missing is what made me love the gang camps (Horseshoe and Clemens, specifically). The sense of community, donating things and doing chores to raise morale. You can do chores in Beecher’s but you don’t get much of a reward. I’m not saying twenty gang members should live in Beecher’s, but there should be more.
There should be the meters in the corner, but instead of ammo medicine and provisions, it is medicine, provisions, and misc. supplies (requested by family members via ledger or direct asking). There should also be an option to donate to the property and upgrade certain things. I know that would mess with the continuity of RDR1, but it feels so boring not to have any goals to work to.
There should be more chores too, such as companion activities (ex: teach Jack how to hunt, go to Blackwater with Uncle for supplies, head to the woodshop with Abigail to get wood, etc.) Along with that, the dialogue should be less choppy and there should be more conversations. Similar to Macfarlane’s ranch in RDR1, you should also have the option to guard the ranch over the night (and get into scuffles with the Skinners).
I know Rockstar is abandoning RDRII for the most part, and this will likely never happening, but it’s nice to dream. My main gist is that I want more in Beecher’s Hope!
