It's the only sole old gen system online counterpart left while GTA Online is pn both generations of platforms at the moment and with so much focus going towards GTA VI and GTA+ only time will tell before Rockstar decides to pull resources completely away from RDO to help with other upcoming titles and project's
They already pulled resources. They pulled resources from RDR1 and GTA 4 remasters, too. They announced this months ago when GTA 6 alpha footage got leaked.
My point is you're irrationally assuming they're going to just shut everything down when they've simply put it on the back burner. This is why it gets monthly events instead of weekly like it used to, because they wanted to move resources but not totally abandon it. If they were going to abandon it they would have already.
Also they made RDO standalone before they made GTAO standalone, so they have had a future vision of some kind, it's just probably going to be after they make GTA 6 the god tier game everyone is expecting (it probably won't be).
I'm still in last gen it's just my guess since they're heavily marketing GTA+ abs excluding Both last gen and PC players at every corner knowing they can't access GTA+ or the Vinewood Car Club ine general so some of those cars removed that only strictly spawn there will never be able to be had again by these players until they switch over by force. As well as never being able to get the S95 or Abrieter that's based upon the Pontiac GTO The Judge
I see why you're worried now. GTA is in a slightly different situation than RDO, and RDO might do all that way later, a few years, but it probably won't shut down like you say. RDR2 needs a next gen port before any of that happens, though, to copy GTA V.
It's basically just the turning of the tides, like what happened with old old gen when the PS4 and Xbox One versions came out. It's sad and scummy but it's what happens. We will see less stuff on old gen because Rockstar has incentives to push us to new gen because they make deals with Microsoft and PlayStation, like GTAO standalone being free for PS Plus when it came out, also only on PS5. More console sales makes their friends happy, who will then keep giving them exclusive offers, and the cycle goes on until we stop giving them money for doing it. There's just way more people who will give them money than those who won't, unless there's a massive scene about it. Even then people make a small scene and then fold the day after, giving in and paying up, so we may never see the cycle.
I went through all this before because I've been playing GTA since PS3, and I'm still on PS4, but the next gen consoles are failing to catch my interest. I guess that's why I'm less bothered, but it is bothersome.
Yeah I'm just frustrated with how Rockstar is treating the community as a whole on both old/next gen and PC ad well we all love Both GTA/Red Dead or the separate communities as everyone's different but one thing we all love is the games and when Rockstar does what's in the best interests of its players but the last 2 years it's been leaning more and more to now full brink prioritizing profits and capitalizing on ways that force players to shuck out micro transactions over having a wholesome experience playing solo, with friends or just with random who enjoy gaming. You made a great point as changing of the guard and new eras bring change as expected but seems Rockstars is valuing its pockets more-so than the benefit of player engagement/feedback
I don't blame you because it is frustrating. A lot of companies are valuing their pockets now. It has always been there, but it's been creeping up more and more, and having way more of an impact than it should. The future looks pretty dim, even though games in general seem to be getting a little better lately. It makes gaming as a hobby hard.
What's your gamertag if you wanna do some missions together I'm always looking for new gamers to play with
It's the same name I have here, all lowercase, no spaces. I'm on PS4. I've been having hard drive issues lately, so I don't know how available I'll be for some things. Funnily enough RDR2 and GTA are the first two games I redownloaded.
Thanks and yeah I do go back to Red Dead myself since on GTA I have everything already but if I want to relax by hunting fishing managing my shine shack and doing some bounties I head on over to the simple life of red dead
What do you think?
