I mean, there doesn’t have to be a reason for it *shrug* some people just enjoy seeing representation of a character, or maybe R* just wanted to write him like that. There doesn’t always have to be a reason to character attributes like being gay- it’s the same reason you wouldn’t ask why a character is straight or white.

Is there any reason for Arthur to be straight? You might as well ask yourself that. Bill’s sexuality doesn’t inform the plot but it can figure into character background. There are small hints like him awkwardly trying to be closer to Kieran but nothing outright stated. But if you interpret him as a closeted gay man it can deepen his character, because being a closeted gay man his time and context adds to his inner turmoil.

@Arradin Nugrahanto Homosexuality has existed since at least Sodom and Gomorrah. So yes, it’s very possible for Bill to be gay. I’d say he’s at most conflicted, given that the whole Abigail ordeal with the gang. But that’s all I’ll say in the matter as this is a touchy subject nowadays.

Edit: About the actual post, Lenny was with Jenny before she died. And I don’t think Rockstar has ever confirmed anything about Red Dead.

Wyeds you make a good and perfect point about Bill. The comment on Arthur being straight was a little weird to me, since he has canonically been in two relationships with women, and shows no signs of being gay while Bill shows signs. Besides that I like your point, I think

Is there any reason for him not to be?

When you have a character like Bill, people react like this and say things like "I don't mind a character being gay, but there should be a reason for it in the story, not something that's just thrown in there for the heck of it." But then you go find another story where a character's gayness is part of the plot, and people complain about "an agenda being shoved down their throat."

If you're still bothered by gay characters in 2024, the problem is with you, not the story or the character...
