At the time, I based off my research on discussions I had with the staff and what I could gather from the page's history with a little bit of my own theories. Most of the legwork had been done, so my goal was to spread the news around.

But for the record, the body count is likely to have been fabricated in its entirety. I myself have cleaned up old remnants of fanfictions present in very dated pages. The dates are consistent with the misinformation I found in said pages. This goes back to the 2010s.

I still find it strange how that user was able to predict that the Blackwater Massacre was an event involving outlaws vs lawmen all the way back in 2011.

Going through his history, he appears to have been an admin and a reliable editor, not one for making up fanfiction.

I haven't read this whole discussion, but assuming a gunfight is between outlaws and lawmen isn't super outlandish, even if it wasn't confirmed. May have been an overlooked piece of speculation when that edit was made.

They couldn't possibly obtain that information by listening to NPCs because characters never talk about the Blackwater Massacre in-game. Just admit that back then admins also made stuff up and frequently. My favorite fanfic poster is @JackFrost23, due to the amount of things I've cleaned up on their behalf. They edited the Blackwater page too around the same time LyHungViet was adding romanticized descriptions. My guess is both are to blame since Jackson here ran rampant doing whatever they wanted and Ly had to oversee it.

@Leprechaunlauch They didn't predict anything. The user in question wrote up the most deadass cliché in Western media.

"Ummm, let's see here. This page's description needs more flair. Something vivid. Okay... so a big shoot-out... lawmen, and ummm... aha! Outlaws. Yeah, that's it. Damn, this is some Cormac McCarthy writing I'm conjuring here!"

Please note that Pinkerton agents are not lawmen by any means. Their description clearly said lawmen were involved in the shootout but they never mentioned precise details, like the Pinkertons, bounty hunters, boat robbery, etc. They simply made a guess! This is not worthy of a mystery.

Look, guys this is all well and good, but rockstar released more info with the red dead redemption two release. Although it might contradict some info from rdr, it’s more recent and should be regarded as the most accurate. No offense, but you should really just forget it
