Before I start, I say right away that English isn’t my main language, so if there are mistakes, don’t judge strictly
The next part of red dead, in my opinion, should not be connected with the arch of redemption of the main character, because we have already seen this in previous parts. Therefore, the game will not be called red dead redemption 3, but in some other way.
The next part of red dead will be a prequel to RDR2 and will take place in three different time periods
1)1899
2)1877-1885
3)1887
In 1899, we will finally be shown the robbery of a ferry in Blackwater. In 1877-1885, it is shown how Dutch and Hosea met each other, sheltered Arthur and John and created their own gang.
And in 1887, we are shown the story of how young Arthur became the way we see him in RDR2.
1. Prologue. We are shown an excerpt from the infamous ferry robbery. We are given the opportunity to play for Dutch. During the robbery, the gang robs $150,000. An innocent girl, Heidi McCourt, becomes a witness to this robbery. She immediately runs away and Dutch is confused whether to kill her or let her go, but Micah convinced Dutch to kill her. And the game gives us the opportunity to kill a woman with a dead eye with our own hands. After that, the prologue ends and the game takes us back 6 months. Chapter 1 begins, and during this chapter we are shown how Dutch met Micah and how the gang was preparing for the ill-fated robbery of the ferry. The last mission of the chapter will be the Blackwater massacre. During this mission, we are transferred to the ferry again and the murder of Heidi McCourt is shown again, but this time in the form of a cutscene. And after this cutscene, a shootout between the gang and the Pinkertons already begins. Landon Ricketts also randomly participates in this shootout and he even manages to injure one of the Van der Linde gang members. And John Marston gets this injury (as for me, a very good reference to RDR1). In addition to John, Jenny and Davey are injured, and Sean and Mac are arrested. Arthur and Hosea come to the aid of the gang. Arthur helps the gang fight off the Pinkertons, and Hosea organizes the gang's escape. And during the escape, Arthur's horse Boadicca dies. This is where Chapter 1 ends and we are shown how the gang disappeared into the mountains in the form of flashforwards from RDR2.
2. 1877-1885. I'll be brief here. In this interval, we will play for Dutch and Hosea. We need to show how Dutch and Hosea, trying to rob each other, became friends, and then created their own gang, while sheltering teenagers Arthur and John. In the same chapter, you can tell about Annabel (Dutch's girlfriend), Bessie (Hosea's wife), young Mary Gillis, as well as Eliza, the waitress who gave birth to Isaac to Arthur. Also, here you can show the O'Driscoll gang and the history of Dutch and Colm's relationship. This chapter can end with the murder of Dutch's girlfriend by Colm. After that, Dutch and Colm's cooperation ends.
3. 1887. The last chapter in the game. The slogan of this chapter is "revenge is a fool's game". Here we play as young Arthur, who was not as violent as in RDR2. In this chapter, we are shown Arthur as a father, how he visited the family every couple of months and taught Isaac to read, fish, and so on. Also, with a new chapter in the game, the main villains of the game appear - the bandits who killed Isaac and Eliza. But they were not just bandits, but the leaders of a dangerous gang in the Wild West - the "Bloody Gang". This gang, along with the O'Driscolls, feuded with Van der Linde. At that time, the "Bloody Gang" was the most dangerous gang in America, it had a lot of robberies and murders on its account. And one day they were preparing for the biggest bank robbery in history. But Dutch's gang got ahead of them and robbed the bank on their own, taking several thousand dollars with them. After the robbery, Dutch told Arthur to hide the money in Eliza's house. The "Bloody Gang" wanted to take revenge on the Van der Linde gang for stealing from them a robbery that they had been planning for a long time. The "Bloody Gang" catches one of Dutch's gang members and tortures him, hoping that he will reveal the location of the robbed money. And this member of Dutch's gang gives the location of Isaac and Eliza to the enemies, since he thought that the money might be hidden with them. But at that time, Arthur had not yet reached his family and had not yet managed to hide the money. And when he visited his son and mistress, he found 2 crosses. He could not contain his emotions and promised to take revenge on the murderers. Upon returning to the camp, Arthur tells Dutch and Hosea about what happened and says that someone betrayed them(in RDR2, Arthur, while playing dominoes with Tilly, says that there was a traitor in the gang). At that time, the same gang member who gave away the whereabouts of Arthur's son was absent from the camp for a long time. And the gang is on a quest to find the traitor. When Arthur catches him, he begins to torture him (like Thomas Shelby in the third season of "Peaky Blinders") in the hope of finding out his son's killers. All the gang members are horrified by Arthur's cruelty, and Hosea kills the traitor out of mercy (just like Arthur Shelby in the same moment from "Peaky Blinders”). Arthur still finds out who is responsible for the murder of his son. After that, he prepares his blood feud against the "Bloody Gang". Dutch asks Arthur not to do this, because revenge will not fix anything, but Arthur is obsessed with this revenge and does not listen to Dutch. Then Dutch says that Arthur alone will not cope with the "Bloody Gang" and asks for his help in revenge. But even here Arthur refuses him, saying that this is his personal revenge. And so, the last mission of the game "revenge is a foolish game" begins. Arthur, under badass music (in the style or in something similar to "American Venom"), single-handedly destroys the entire "Bloody Gang" and in the end, in a duel 1 against 2, Arthur quickly pulls out his revolver and kills the main villains of the game with a dead eye. After Arthur avenges Isaac's death, he realizes that Dutch was right and revenge is not worth going for it. And after the end of the game, we are given the opportunity to switch between Dutch, Hosea and Arthur
Many people will call me crazy and I probably agree with you, because I don't understand how it came to my mind.
This post will be a useful guide for the Red Dead community or anyone interested in this topic. Many are the players who still, to this day, generally believe that the Red Dead franchise has only 1 universe, unlike the main Rockstar Games franchise which is officially made up of 3 continuities and these ultimately interconnect with titles from other franchises also developed by them.
Like the Grand Theft Auto series, the Red Dead series is divided into three self-contained universes, as Dan Houser (Vice President of Rockstar Games) confirmed that the events of Red Dead Revolver take place in a different canon, and its events are treated as legends and myths in the Redemption continuity (Red Dead Online, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Red Dead Redemption canon) Undead Nightmare is set in a parallel universe and is not canon to the Redemption continuity.
So if it's not canon, why do the campers in both Red Dead 1 and Red Dead 2 mention characters and events exclusive to the narrative of Red Dead Revolver? Does it mean Rockstar contradicted themselves or that said events also happened in this continuity? The answer is no.
You see... campsites aren't exactly reliable sources of information. In a gameplay trailer for the game, and this can be verified, a narrator states that players can join random NPCs at campsites and hear news and rumors of the Western Frontier when describing their functionality. Some NPCs talk about hidden treasures that the player can actually find, but others boast about mythical characters and events they believe to be true, stories that are full of exaggerations.
Now answering the initial questions again: NO! Red Dead Revolver falls under the category of folklore in this universe and nothing more.
The topic of Undead Nightmare being a dream sequence scenario of John's all along has already been debunked by the screenshots shown above, plus the DLC is also referenced in GTA 5 and Red Dead 2 so further discussing this is pointless in my opinion. And it was always a fan theory, not something suggested by the company itself.
Next common dilemma:
Why do people find it difficult to understand the concept of different universes in the franchise? Actually, both parties are to blame, the company and players: the first group for not directly answering these type of questions on the company's official Twitter account and the other group for not doing enough research. We have to keep in mind that there are casual gamers and fans, we can't expect casual gamers to spend a lot of time googling information almost 24/7 about a game company, the same can be applied to content creators. It's not common knowledge out there, but among the fan community it's a well known fact that the Red Dead franchise has 3 universes.
Explanation for casuals:
In the movie Multiverse of Madness we see the Planet Volmir and Thanos with the gauntlet but instead of the "Avengers" being present in that battle we see "The Illuminati", a society of supers made up of Reed Richards, Professor Charles Xavier, Black Bolt, Baron Mordo the "Sorcerer Supreme", Agent Carter, and Captain Marvel (Maria Rambeau). The battle at Volmir in this universe, known as "838", is based on Avengers: Endgame but it occurred differently.
Explanation for fans, but only for those who deny the Rockstar Multiverse because their IQs equal the room temperature in an igloo:
The Call of Duty franchise is divided into not 2, nor 3, but 5 separate universes. This is due to the fact that 3 developers have taken over the franchise throughout the years. In Modern Warfare (the reboot) Captain Price says the line "On your feet, soldier! We're leaving." which is a nod to the Captain Price from Call of Duty 4, and this version of the character also claims to have shot Zakhaev, something that also happened slightly different in Call of Duty 4. And both characters have different ages.
Red Dead Revolver was originally a Capcom project, then it was bought, finished and published by Rockstar Games, but Rockstar eventually decided that they should further expand this recently acquired franchise and thus Red Dead Redemption was created around 2005-2006, which is a reboot/spiritual-successor of Red Dead Revolver. Undead Nightmare, on the other hand, was developed by the same company, but it was a different approach that certainly wouldn't fit into the serious and dark GTA 4-like narrative seen in Red Dead Redemption, so they made it a standalone zombie title filled with lot of fan service, that is also inspired by the Zombie genre of the 1970s, and that is not part of any canon or universe.
I hope my point of view better exemplifies how these universes work and the reasoning behind Rockstar's decision to separate Red Dead Revolver, Red Dead Redemption, and Undead Nightmare, narratively speaking.

I decided to share my thoughts on the future of the Red Dead series, without touching on such one-sided denouements as Redemption 3, because personally I'm already tired of it all. Given Rockstar's current apathetic tendencies, I'm not very sure that anything positive will come out, but this is just my not very stable opinion about the preferred future of the series.
1) Red Dead Revolver Remake. Considering how mainstream it is to remake not very old products, and the fact that Rockstar also fell for it, a remake of the ancestor of the series sounds quite interesting, at least from the point of view of the developers themselves. I assume that this will not be a remake in the typical sense, but a real rethinking and reflashing of the original story, bringing something really new and moving to the Redemption universe, where the Revolver story has an ambiguous status on the verge of actual events and legends. In addition, the developers in such a situation will have a lot of creative freedom without taking the original game to the detriment. Such a scenario is certainly attractive, but, I'm afraid, unlikely.
2) A new story within the current Redemption universe, in a different consumption format. An even less likely version of events, although for me it is very interesting from the point of view of history. Although there have been doubts about the continuation of the story since the days of RDR, RDR2 really closed many points and ideologically completed the central story of John. But no one really canceled the release of additional material that would reveal some details in the main story. For me, perhaps the most interesting, albeit a little knock-out option, is to tell about the period between 1899-1907 years. I would be happy with the option to show John's life at this time, against the background of another story to which John himself had an indirect relationship. Such an option would be suitable for a conditional mini-series, but Rockstar apparently does not particularly like to go into this direction. Also can't rule out others, but just indirect ways to provide slightly different stories, nut I don’t find particularly relevant options, because it’s too late to release the same DLCs for RDR2.
3) New saga. The most obvious and righteous option, in which the publisher is not particularly interested, because it is very risky.
4) Mobile Red Dead. The saddest, but most likely option. With the acquisition of Zynga and CEO Take-Two talking about moving major franchises to mobile platforms, Red Dead is the first choice for the role. And the whole point is the existence of Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers, a closed web-game on Facebook that can be taken as a basis for a future mobile service game by the Red Dead franchise.

Yep, send in those hate comments, but I don't care. Red Dead Redemption 3 is highly requested by fans and I have seen some suggestions about how the game could be like. Some were Jack after killing Ross, the early years of the gang, Landon Ricketts's early gunslinging career before Blackwater and taking a vacation in Chuparosa, Nuevo Paraíso, Northern Mexico. While I like some of these suggestions, I highly believe however, that there will be NO Red Dead Redemption 3. While RED DEAD will still be used since Rockstar doesn't want that franchise to die since it's their money maker alongside GTA, Redemption will not be included since I believe that story is finished.
The story of John Marston, Jack and the gang is finished, done. There is no need for a Redemption 3 because all their stories are finished. While a Landon Ricketts game would be incredible, it will most likely not happen despite how loved and perfect Landon Ricketts was. The new Red Dead (after I believe Bully 2 and GTA VI if there is even a GTA VI) will be set in a new world with different states, settings and characters. The Red Dead brand will still continue but Redemption is fully done.
Now, I wouldn't mind a Revolver sequel but that will also most likely never happen but you never know. Anways, that's my thoughts, do you believe there will be a Redemption 3 or a Revolver 2, or just a new Red Dead game/series? Let me know.
So I rewatched the so claimed bad movie "The Lone Ranger." Honestly, I did enjoy it but I thought to myself, what if a lone ranger existed in the Red Dead universe, what would he be like? Idiotic but it's was an interesting thought to me but what do you guys think?
If rockstar wants to make another “western”, I think a great choice would be the Australian outback. This idea came into mind after learning about the notorious bushranger Ned Kelly and his gang. The gang was a terror to the police and to the rich landowners. Best of all, the gang made bulletproof suits of iron and had the biggest last stand and gunfight in bushranger history!
As you can see there’s a lot of material to work with, and I don’t really think the same can be said for Arthur, John, and Dutch’s gang.
Anyways, I encourage anyone to learn more about the Australian bushrangers
