Fuck this game. I decided to replay the game as a bloodthirsty-genocidal-demon guy, and I finally got past the very boring first chapter, and so I chose to go to Valentine for a haircut + style. That didn't happen though, because my horse got critically injured in an inaccessible place, and so I couldn't revive it (even if I got horse revivers), so I just reloaded my most recent autosave. It hadn't auto-saved on my new game. I lost that whole hour of playing. I'm stuck as a good guy. Fuck this game
