John has plot armor and incredible regeneration abilities, as well as deadeye which makes him as fast or faster than Arthur.

I believe what it ultimately comes down to is that Arthur and John and most of the gang stand for something other than themselves. Whereas Micah is a selfish person who doesn't understand what it means to stand for something other than himself.
