There is no canon ending to this game but you are given the choice of being either a hero or an absolute psychopath but I'd say get John to safety high honor is the choice everyone makes.

Remember that casino mission in 2019 for GTA Online? We found that option C was the canon ending for GTA V but RDO is set in 1898 so we don’t know the canon ending for RDR2.
