Alden is a professional lawman who operates in the New Austin region, although he primarily seems to be employed at Plainview in Río Bravo.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Alden can often be found taking part in Arm Wrestling contests at Plainview. He can also be seen quietly patrolling Plainview or having a smoke break. Sometimes he can be spotted pinning up wanted posters at the train station. When Marston brings a live bounty to the Armadillo jail, he is one of the officers who assists with the transfer of the criminal while Shelton Cole handles out the reward. However, if Marston has a high enough bounty, Alden will join other lawmen in tracking him to multiple locations around New Austin.
He may also appear in a random encounter, offering Marston a reward for helping to transport a captured outlaw to the nearest town as he is unable to carry two criminals himself.

There is a glitch where he may appear wearing a light navy shirt rather than his dark orange one. This glitch appears to be more common when it's raining in-game.
