Alejandro Duarte is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.
History[]
Background[]
Duarte is a gunsmith and runs the gun store in Escalera. He is also a gambler and appears to read the newspapers regularly.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Duarte can often be found playing Five Finger Fillet in Escalera and sometimes in Torquemada. At his store, the player can buy guns and ammo or sell unneeded provisions. If threatened, he will often run away, unlike other gunsmiths who will shoot at the player (however, if Marston punches him and then pulls out a gun, Duarte will shoot at him with a rifle.)
Occasionally, he can be encountered while visiting other towns, such as Chuparosa on horseback.
Events of Undead Nightmare[]
Alejandro can be found in El Presidio, waiting out the apocalypse in relative safety with other survivors. He can also occasionally be found helping to defend the town of Chuparosa from the Undead hordes.
He can also be found during a random encounter, in which he claims to be sick and in need of a doctor. He will then turn into an Undead and attack the player. He can then either be hogtied or killed.

Trivia[]
- Some of his dialogue hints that he was once in a homosexual relationship with Vincente de Santa.
- Similar to a few other NPC's, Duarte will address both John and Jack Marston as "Marston" judging from the player's fame. This could imply that he is more aware of the current game events than the other NPC characters.
- He is often the most skilled player of Five Finger Fillet in Escalera, requiring the highest bets.
- For an unknown reason, both Alejandro and Angel Palomares, the owner of the general store in Escalera, will only open fire if the player assaults either of them before drawing a gun. This will also provoke nearby law enforcement to come after the player.
- He shares a similar head model as Damacio Villaverde, the only noticeable difference being their hair.
