The Alligator is an animal species featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The alligator is a large reptile endemic to southeastern parts of the map. They are carnivorous apex predators, feeding on fish, birds, amphibians, and mammals.

They have the same appearance as a regular alligator; green, scaly skin, a long tail, a large, gaping mouth and eyes protruding from either side of the head.

Despite their size and ability to kill players very quickly, alligators can easily be killed via a single shot by a rifle to the head.

Alligators live in the swamp and river delta regions of Lemoyne in southern Bluewater Marsh and all around Bayou Nwa.

  • A rifle will easily kill an alligator, because of its ability to pierce through the animal's tough skin.
    • A Rolling Block Rifle will allow the player to kill them from a farther distance without having to risk getting close.
      • A bow with improved arrows is also a good alternative.
  • Alligators cannot be skinned in water. It is best to find and kill an alligator lying on the shore.
  • Alligator eggs can be sold for a good profit, with each bundle earning around $12.
