The Saint Denis Mob is an Italian criminal organization operating in Saint Denis. They are an antagonistic faction featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.

History[]

Background[]

The Saint Denis mob was founded at some point prior to 1898 by Angelo Bronte. Crimes committed by the organization include bribing and defrauding city officials, smuggling, and racketeering. Due to the mob's influence and regular payoffs, the Saint Denis Police Department turns a blind eye to their criminality.

Many members of the mob are stationed at Bronte's Mansion on Flavian Street, functioning as guards.

Events of Red Dead Online[]

Members may attack the protagonist and customers of Cripps' trading company during the delivery of goods to Saint Denis.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]

Horseshoe Overlook Chapter[]

At some point in the game's second chapter, a newspaper reports that a policeman named Henry Jenkins was murdered by members of the mob via a gunshot to the head for trying to build a case against Bronte.[1]

Clemens Point Chapter[]

After kidnapping Jack Marston, the Braithwaite family hands the boy over to Bronte, apparently planning to use him as leverage against the Van der Linde gang. Jack was taken care of by Bronte at his residence for some time.

Saint Denis Chapter[]

Dutch, Arthur, and John manage to track Bronte down and arrive at the gates of his mansion. Van der Linde demands that they be let in, which the guards comply with but hold the trio at gunpoint while doing so. Inside, Dutch is able to convince Bronte to let Jack go in exchange for Arthur and John agreeing to hunt down grave robbers who had failed to cut Bronte in on their thefts. After completing the task, the boy is returned to the gang and taken back to camp; in addition, Bronte invites Dutch to an upcoming party hosted by the city's mayor, Henri Lemieux.

Dutch and Arthur attend, alongside Hosea and Bill. After being welcomed by Luca Napoli, Arthur and Dutch make their way up to the mansion's balcony to visit Bronte, who is celebrating with his underboss Guido Martelli and other henchmen. After a short conversation in which Bronte appears to mock his guests in Italian as country fools, he reveals that a large sum of money is being kept at a unguarded trolley station in the city.

After the robbery of the trolley station turned out to be a setup, Dutch decides to kill Bronte in revenge. Dutch, Arthur, John, Bill, and Lenny sneak onto the property and enter the mansion from the back after dealing with several of Bronte's henchmen. After killing more mobsters inside, John and Arthur eventually find Bronte hiding in his bathtub. Bronte tries to shoot them but his Mauser pistol jams and he ends up throwing it at John. Bronte tries to negotiate with them, but John promptly knocks him out. Subsequently, corrupt police are sent to rescue Bronte, though the gang members successfully fend them off and Arthur carries Angelo to the boat. Upon regaining consciousness, the Italian insults Dutch and mocks the gang's unwavering loyalty, after which the latter drowns him and throws his corpse overboard into the jaws of an alligator.

After Bronte's demise, the remains of his mob become hostile whenever they encounter Arthur.

Beecher's Hope Chapter[]

By 1907, the mob is commanded by Guido Martelli, the former right-hand man and underboss of Bronte.[2] As a street fighter, Charles Smith made a deal with the syndicate's members whereby he’d throw the fight and result in them winning the bet. However, he goes against his word and defeats his opponent, winning the bet for himself and, in the process, angering members of the mob. Pursued by them as a result, Charles is joined by John, and the two are confronted by four of Martelli's mobsters. After killing them in a brief shootout, the duo successfully manages to escape the city.

Members of the mob can also be encountered in several random encounters in Saint Denis throughout 1899 and 1907.

  • In free roam, if the player enters Bronte's property, his guards will become hostile.
  • If the player receives a WANTED status while inside the property, the guards will assist the lawmen during the pursuit.
    • However, in the PC files of the game there is a dialogue that reveals that they were originally supposed to flee once the law arrived.
  • Mob members wear what appear to be casual suits, but in reality most of their clothing is completely unique. This includes their custom cross draw harnesses and custom black gun belts.
