Benito Penagarza is a minor character and bounty target featured in Red Dead Redemption.
Background[]
Benito Penagarza is an infamous bandito wanted for petty theft. The player, upon collecting his wanted poster, can pursue Benito and his companions to a remote location, where they have the choice to either kill or hogtie him and turn him over to the authorities of the nearest settlement for a reward.
Character[]
Appearance[]
Benito is rather short in stature and a bit of overweight. He wears a tan or slightly brown jacket over a white or beige shirt, red neckerchief, two gunbelts, a bandolier across his chest, and a large sombrero. He has beige pants, bordering on grey and brown boots. He has black hair, a large moustache, and a lightly trimmed beard.
In general, his clothing is quite similar to that of Javier Escuella.
Interactions[]
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Benito can most often be found around Casa Madrugada and Chuparosa, frequently loitering inside the local cantinas, drunk. After he's finished drinking, he will stumble around the place until falling down.
Benito is also one of the enemy outlaws occupying the Fort Mercer gang hideout after the disbandment of the Williamson Gang in Río Bravo. He will be hostile even if the player is wearing the Bandito Outfit.
In the multiplayer mode, Benito can be encountered in Tesoro Azul and will always be hostile.
During the mission The Gunslinger’s Tragedy, Benito Penagarza is one of the banditos who have stolen a bank wagon from Chuparosa, and hold Fermin Ichinaga hostage. He and his affiliates lose a shoot-out against John Marston and Landon Ricketts.
Trivia[]
- He is the only bandito to wear two gunholsters as opposed to wearing two bandoliers, unlike the others.
