Benjamin is a gunsmith and runs the gun store in Thieves' Landing, which he took possession of sometime between 1907 and 1911.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
The player can buy ammo and weapons from him or sell provisions and items obtained from hunting and skinning animals. If Benjamin is not in his shop, he will be found wondering around town, particularly the saloon or the brothel and converse with numerous citizens and criminals alike.
Character[]
Personality[]
Benjamin is a vocally cynical individual. He seems to hold the entire town in contempt, likely due to the general lawlessness and filth of his surroundings, and some of his dialogue suggests that he only lives there because the constant gunfights between locals and the presence of many dangerous outlaws means he can charge a premium for his wares. However, he also seems to be used to the nature of this town judging from the merry tone in his voice.
He and Dewey Greenwood are among a few minor characters to greet other NPCs directly by their name.
His last name is pronounced as "Dupe-wee".
Similarly to Jung Fook-Sing, Benjamin wears a more formal shopkeeper attire, including a tie and a cleaner apron, despite working as a gunsmith.
If the player stays in his store long enough, they might witness a business transaction between Benjamin and a random criminal, with Benjamin selling them some ammo from under his counter.
