–Bert Venter in a fistfight
Bert Venter is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.
History[]
Background[]
Judging by his surname, and the fact that he is frequently found there, he is likely the owner of Venter's Place, a small ranch in New Austin located just north of Lake Don Julio. His background otherwise is unknown, but he seems to struggle with managing his ranch, considering that he has a reputation as a horse thief and is known to be argumentative and short-tempered.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Bert plays a minor role in the mission "You Shall Not Give False Testimony, Except for Profit", in which he is among the crowd that gathers around Nigel West Dickens during a demonstration of his miracle tonic at Ridgewood Farm. After being convinced, he purchases a few bottles.
Bert can be commonly found in and around Venter's Place. He also occasionally appears on the side of the road for the "In Need of a Ride" random encounter, where he will pretend to need assistance and then attempt to steal the player's horse if they stop to help him.
