Catfish Jacksons is a homestead in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online; it is located south of Rhodes, in the Scarlett Meadows region of the Lemoyne territory.

Description[]

The house is owned by Algie Davison, who lives with his son Nate. The homestead itself is a wooden bungalow and includes a shed. It is on the banks of the Lannahechee River, with woodland surrounding it to the south.

Interactions[]

The player can come here at any time, though during the optional mission "Money Lending and Other Sins V", Arthur will come here to retrieve the debt from Algie Davison. However, the mission will be automatically canceled if the player has already knocked out or killed Algle, Nate, or both in the homestead robbery, or has passed the third or fourth stage of the homestead robbery. Catfish Jacksons is also a home robbery location, which means that, if the player does this before collecting the debt, they can effectively rob the homestead twice: once during the home robbery, and then again while collecting Algie's debt money.

In a homestead robbery, there are four stages set in 1899. In the first stage, the player will hear Algie and Nate arguing. When the player reveals themselves or is spotted by Nate, Algie will order Nate to hide in his room. After the player hogties, knocks out, or kills Algie and then threatens Nate, Nate will reveal that the stash of money is hidden inside the chimney.

In the second stage, the player will find Algie passed out drunk in front of the house. When the player enters the house and steps into Nate's room, Nate will call out to Algie. Algie will then come inside to confront the player. The player can hogtie, knock out, or kill Algie, and then threaten Nate. Nate will reveal that the stash of money is hidden in Algie's room.

In the third stage, the player will find Algie sitting inside the house. If Algie spots the player, he will confront them. The player can choose to hogtie, knock out, or kill Algie and then proceed to threaten Nate in his room. However, Nate will tell the player that there's nothing left to steal because they have already taken everything.

In the fourth stage, the player will no longer encounter Algie, as he is already dead regardless of whether the player killed him in the previous stage, a grave for Algie will also appear in the backyard after completing the stage. Instead, the player will find Nate sitting in his room. Nate tells the player that he's ready to kill the player, then attacks them with a knife. The player can hogtie, knock out, or kill him, and this decision will affect the next stage, which is set in 1907. On the other hand, if the player knocked out or killed Nate in an earlier stage or during the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins V", they will find Algie sitting and drunk inside the house, mourning Nate's death and self-pitying himself for not being able to protect his own son. If Algie spots the player, he will immediately attack them.

There are also two stages set in 1907, but only if the player didn't knock out or kill Nate in an earlier stage or during the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins V". In the first stage, the player will find Nate sitting and drunk in the house, complaining that his father didn't deserve to die. If Nate spots the player, he will try to force them out of his house, and if the player refuses to leave, Nate will attempt to attack them. The player can hogtie, knock out, or kill him.

In the second stage, if the player didn't knock out or kill Nate in an earlier stage, they will find him passed out drunk in front of the house, just like his father. The player can then enter the house and rob it.

The house will become abandoned if both of them are killed. The Letter to Nate from Momma will also be gone forever if they didn't collect it during their visit when the residents are still living there.

Missable Items[]

  • Letter to Nate from Momma

Bugs/Glitches[]

  • After completing the fourth stage of the homestead robbery and once the house is abandoned, Algie's grave will automatically change its name to Nate, even if the player didn't kill Nate, usually after saving and loading the game.[1]

Trivia[]

  • On the north western side of the shack, in a crawlspace accessible from outside, there's a chest containing Aged Pirate Rum, Chewing Tobacco, and money, which will respawn after a while.
  • The first three stages can be skipped directly to the fourth stage if the player has already knocked out or killed Algie or Nate in an earlier stage or during the mission "Money Lending and Other Sins V", or if they have waited too long and triggered each stage.
