History[]
Background[]
Ling, who is part of the Cantonese ethnic group in Saint Denis, operates as the local Gunsmith in his Gun Store, which he founded in 1867.
Events of Red Dead Online[]
Ling is present in the game's Online mode, where he can sell all kinds of weapons, ammunition, and gear, such as bandoliers and gun belts to the player.
Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Ling provides ammunition, weapons, and gear to the player. He is also able to customize the player's weapons. His store is the only one offering the M1899 Pistol and the LeMat Revolver.
Trivia[]
- If the player tries to rob his store by demanding him to open the cash register, Ling might attack him using his Cattleman Revolver.
- He runs a side business that can be robbed by the player. By inspecting the steel door in the back of his store and threatening Ling to open it afterward, the player will find a secret poker game upstairs. There will be money on the table as well as in the safe. It is the only safe in the game, however, that cannot be opened by force (like using dynamite or explosive ammo), and the only way to open it is by threatening the poker players until they reveal the one who knows the code and then demanding him to open the safe.
- Ling is the only gunsmith in the game who is not Caucasian.
- If the player visits his store shortly after being arrested by the Saint Denis Police Department, he will inform them that the Chief asked him to watch for the player, and warns them not to try anything.
- If the player visits his store again after robbing it, Ling may mention that he's very good friends with the Police Chief. He will also ask the player what does he want from them and mentions that he was trying to make extra money from the poker room though the player will respond that they were making money as well. Ling replies with that they closed it down and would ask them to leave him alone as they decide to put it behind.
- If the player visits his store the next day, he will ask if they are buying a weapon or cause trouble. The player will ask him if he moved on from the poker room robbery incident to which responds that it is up to him but he is a little wary.
- If the player knocks him out with their gun whilst robbing the side business, moments later he will have a bandage wrapped around his head.
