- Chupathingy is a reference to the second episode of the Rooster Teeth series Red vs. Blue. In the episode, Grif is contending with Sarge's decision to nickname the M12 Force Application Vehicle the "Warthog" (which is the cannon code name assigned by the UNSC's Marine Corps). Sarge takes partial offense to this, and when Grif suggests they name it a Puma, Sarge gets all antsy because he doesn't believe pumas exist. This results in him listing off various mythical creatures, citing unicorns among them. Sarge asks Simmons the name of "that Mexican lizard, eats all the goats," to which Simmons replies that it's the Chupacabra and Sarge responds by saying "Hey Grif, chupathingy! How about that? I like it, gotta ring to it."
- The description for the achievement/trophy can be a little misleading as the Chupacabra can not be seen again after the player has killed it. The proper term would be: Find and kill the Chupacabra.
