Background[]
A hotheaded pistolero and public nuisance, very little is known of Cruz's background. He has a relative, Lupe Del Valle, buried at Sepulcro.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Cruz can often be found in Chuparosa and Casa Madrugada loitering around the cantina or wandering about in Escalera. He seems to have a strong dislike of Marston, often calling him "son of a whore", "coward", and "slug". Like many other aspiring gunfighters, he will try to publicly goad Marston into a duel.
Cruz can also be encountered during the "Damsel in Distress" random encounter, in which he is trying to kill a prostitute. The player may intervene by killing or disarming Cruz, or just watch as Cruz stabs the woman to death. Choosing to help her can net the player increased Honor.

- Del Valle shares a number of similarities to Ambrosio Falcon; both men are gunfighters, both can occasionally be found trying to kill a woman in cold blood, both can be found in the same settlements and towns, and both wear white shirts with open tan vests.
