A Doctor's Office is a type of store found in Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Red Dead Online where medical supplies can be purchased.
Red Dead Redemption[]
Description[]
In the beginning of the twentieth century, doctors were not as advanced and skilled as they are today. And due to the peoples' distrust of medicine at the time, being a doctor was far less profitable.
The Doctor's Office sells consumables such as Medicine, Chewing Tobacco and Moonshine for John Marston, and Horse Pills or Apples for the player's horse. The Doctor will also, just like any other shopkeeper, purchase the sellable items collected by Marston such as plants, feathers, animal hides, etc.
The map icon of the Doctor's offices is a briefcase with a heart in the center.
Notes[]
- At the Doctor's Office in Armadillo, there is a bed with a blood stain on one side. This happens to be on the same side of the bed as John's wound would have been, meaning this may be the bed John recovered on and the blood stain is therefore from his injury.
- Mr. West Dickens heals at the Doctor's Office in Armadillo after being shot and almost killed.
- Ironically, at the Armadillo doctor's office the doctor will say "Stay away from the salt pork and tobacco," however, tobacco is one of the products he sells.
- In Thieves' Landing, the Doctor's Office is in the same building as the Tailor but the Doctor's Office is on the 2nd floor.
- John Marston gets necessary medical assistance after being shot by Bill Williamson in the Doctor's Office at Armadillo, and recovers from the bullet wound in a Safehouse at MacFarlane's Ranch.
- The player gets slightly more money for selling plants in Doctor's offices, most likely due to their medicinal effects that are described.
- The Doctor's Office in Armadillo will give the player full price on gold bars.
- Dr. Gallagher plays blackjack in Thieves' Landing.
Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Similar to the first game, doctors in Red Dead Redemption 2 buy and sell many kinds of tonics. They will buy also all plants. They can be robbed just like General Stores.
Description[]
In Redemption 2, doctor's offices remain generally the same with some changes. The selection for medicines and tonics are expanded, and in some establishments, such as the Saint Denis Doctor’s Office, candy is sold. The player can also buy tonics for their horse as well, such as the horse reviver. As per the name, the horse reviver can save a wounded horse from death sparing the player of having to mercy kill it.
Notes[]
- Despite there being several doctor’s offices, only the establishments in Valentine and Saint Denis are accessible to the player.
- At the Strawberry Doctor’s Office a sign on the front door informs the player that the shopkeeper has “gone fishing.” Despite this, he never returns.
- In a newspaper article, it is also mentioned that Dr. Wheeler closed shop after being overwhelmed with wounded people following the massive shootout in the town.
- Arthur Morgan is diagnosed with tuberculosis by the doctor in Saint Denis.
- The Doctor's Office in Valentine has a side business run by the O'Driscoll Boys that can be robbed.
- Dr. Wheeler, who runs the Strawberry Doctor’s Office, is mentioned to have given Abigail Roberts a job in "The Wheel".
