The Donkey is a species of animal found in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.

Description

Donkeys are much smaller and slower than a horse. They are mountable and hitchable animals, but they cannot be saddled by the player or stabled.

Donkeys can be sold at the Horse Fence.

Location

Donkeys are found in Rhodes and Hill Haven Ranch in Lemoyne, at Flatneck Station in New Hanover (Only in Red Dead Online), and at Watson's Cabin in northern Big Valley in West Elizabeth.
Two can be found in separate outcroppings of Aguasdulces in Guarma.
A Donkey is seen dragging Javier Escuella during "A Kind and Benevolent Despot".
Donkeys are ridden by the Danger Seeker and the Fame Seeker during random encounters in Red Dead Online.
A man wearing a poncho can be found riding a Donkey near Manicato in Guarma as well as in New Austin.
Near Annesburg, another man can also rarely be found riding a Donkey.

Trivia

Donkeys cannot be stabled.
- However, it is possible to save one as a temporary unbonded mount.
Donkeys sell for zero cents at the horse fence. Upon selling a Donkey, Clay Davies will remark that Clive Davies likes Donkeys because he can bond with them.
The Donkey's health core always displays as a red heart, which normally represents a depleted health core.
The Donkey can be spawned using cheat code "You want something new". It will have a half-full health core as opposed to the normal very low.
In the preview photo for "A Kind and Benevolent Despot", the Donkey that is seen is far bigger than the one used in the final game, possibly implying they were originally meant to be closer to the size of the Mules in Red Dead Redemption.
- Incidentally, the donkey is erroneously referred to as a mule in this mission.
In the 1.00 version of the game, donkeys had fur. This was later removed in an update for the game.
