Nothing is known of Emerson's background. His general appearance suggests that he is an unskilled laborer.
Red Dead Redemption[]
Emerson can most often be found in and around the Pacific Union Railroad Camp, where he performs a variety of odd jobs. However, he has been known to frequent Manzanita Post as well as other locations throughout West Elizabeth, likely in search of better paying work. He will defend himself with a pistol if provoked or attacked.
Undead Nightmare[]
Emerson can be found at the survivors' camp in Fort Mercer. In a random encounter, he will ride up to the player to tell him that the undead took his brother, and he needs to be saved. The player can either ride with him or not. If the player does choose to help him, he will take you to where his brother is, where he is found to be boarded up in either a barn or a random house that is accessible, and the undead are beating on the doors and walls. Once the undead are dead, the player must go to where Emerson's brother is to make sure he gets back with him. The brother is shown to be Rufus Byrd. Once Emerson helps Rufus gets on his horse, he will thank the player and ride off.
