History[]
Background[]
Little is known of Errol's background. His behavior indicates that he is likely a traveling worker and gambler. His accent would imply he is of Canadian descent.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]
Errol can most often be seen in and around Plainview, where he does a variety of odd jobs. However, he has been known to frequent Armadillo for work, but can also spawn at nights to get drunk in the saloon. Alternatively, he can be found at Manzanita Post, mostly around the train station, waiting for the blue train or smoking a cigarette. He may also be encountered riding on horseback through Blackwater. He can also occasionally be seen playing blackjack at Rathskeller Fork. If threatened or robbed by the player, he will try to shoot them dead in self-defense.
In the mission Spare the Rod, Spoil the Bandit, Errol Buckmaster is one of the victims of the Williamson Gang’s attack on Ridgewood Farm. His body can be found at a camp nearby.
Errol appears in the mission “At Home with Dutch”, in which he can be seen hunting Great Plains buffalo on horseback, alongside Felix Middleton and Shelby Bancroft. Nastas bemoans the slow extinction of the buffalo by such trophy hunters.
