The Ardennes is a horse breed in Red Dead Redemption 2. They tend to have higher health and stamina, but lower speed and acceleration. Its handling gives it moderate reactivity and agility.
Description[]
Ardennes are well-built war horses which originates from the Ardennes region which spreads over France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. They can be identified by their bulky body, thick leg feathering and broad head. They are one of the heaviest horse breeds. This sturdy, brave breed handles well under pressure and will not become agitated while in combat. They are known for being healthy with great stamina, as well as average speed and acceleration. Despite this, in Red Dead Online, the Ardennes are extremely skittish and will often buck the player.

A cold-blooded breed, Ardennes have a fantastic temperament and are prized for their ability to not become agitated. The Ardennes have massive bone structure and large muscles. While not very agile, their strength in combat is highly sought after. They are healthy, sturdy, rustic, hard and tireless; a favorite in our line of war horses.

Brown Jack[]
The horse of Bill Williamson throughout 1899. Brown Jack has a "Brown Roan" coat and is said to be loved deeply by Bill; in a conversation with Charles,[1] Arthur remarks how Bill "loves [his] horse" in spite of being a "drunk, miserable bastard" and that his affection for Brown Jack is comparable with Dutch's for The Count.

Trivia[]
- A Bay Roan can be obtained for free as bounty hunters often spawn with them.
- A Strawberry Roan can be obtained earlier for free by using an exploit with the random encounter with the drunk driver near Lone Mule Stead.[2]
- This breed’s voice clips are lower pitched than other breeds. It used to be the only horse in the game to have this until the Breton released. It is still currently the only story mode horse to have this.
- The Ardennes' presence in-game is anachronistic. Despite being one of the oldest horse breeds in the world, the Ardennais was not brought to the US until the 1920s
