The Carcano Rifle is a weapon featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.

Description[]

The Sireno Carcano is a long scoped bolt-action rifle that can hold several rounds at once. When combined with the fast firing rate and quick reload speed, this makes it ideal for facing several enemies in long-distance combat. This gun has an ammo capacity of six rounds, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express, and Explosive rifle ammo.

Acquisition[]

This rifle can be acquired for free during the missions "The Delights of Van Horn" and "Goodbye, Dear Friend"; it will also become available from all gunsmiths after completion of the latter. Additionally, it can be obtained early from Squears during the "Go Rustling" companion activity.[1]

In Online, this sniper rifle is available from all gunsmiths after reaching Rank 50.

Trivia[]

  • The Carcano Rifle is based on the Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle.
    • The Carcano M91/38 is anachronistic as the in-game model was not manufactured until 1938. However, the in-game model has the rear sight of the M91 Long Rifle, which would be more period accurate.
  • The Carcano M91/38 Short Rifle gained infamy for being the gun that was used to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.
  • The Valentine gunsmith incorrectly pronounces its name as “Car-sa-no”.
  • It is one of two rifles that the player must look down the sights of, with the Rolling Block Rifle being the other.
    • Through a glitch, the player can dismount the scope of the Carcano rifle, bypassing the limitation. The Carcano rifle is fully functional in first and third person. In the iron sight configuration, the Carcano is a straight upgrade from the Bolt Action Rifle in most parts; not only the Carcano rifle has better overall stats, it also reloads all round simultaneously.
      • One of the major flaws of the scopeless carcano rifle has compared to the bolt-action rifle is the use of deadeye. Because the scope is never supposed to be unequipped, the player can't tag targets in deadeye like the latter.
