The Rare Shotgun is a weapon featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. It cannot be customized.
Description[]
A rare Double-Barreled Shotgun with faded brass tarnish and adorned with carvings. Previously owned and cherished by a lonely woodsman living in solitude among the trees and wildlife of Roanoke Ridge. This gun has an ammo capacity of two rounds, and can use Regular Buckshot, Incendiary Buckshot, Slug and Explosive Slug shotgun ammo.
Acquisition[]
The shotgun can be acquired by looting the Hermit, a special character available in chapter 2 onwards. He lives in a cottage around Manito Glade, north of Annesburg, New Hanover. As the player approaches the cottage, the Hermit stands outside his home and threatens the player, wielding the shotgun. To obtain the weapon, the player can either kill the Hermit, or tackle (needs to hit gun out of grasp to the floor) and hogtie him, then collect it from the ground.
In Red Dead Online, the Rare Shotgun may be purchased from all gunsmiths or via the Handheld Catalog for $258.

- If the Hermit kills the player, they will have to wait for some time before attempting to obtain it again.
- The weapon wheel incorrectly displays the Rare Shotgun using the regular Double-Barreled Shotgun icon instead of the weapon's own HUD icon.
