President Alfred MacAlister is a mentioned character featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

History[]

Background[]

MacAlister was an American politician who was elected President of the United States at some point before 1897, when he approved the finalized demarcation lines for the states of Ambarino, Lemoyne, New Austin, New Hanover, and West Elizabeth.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]

President MacAlister never appeared in-person throughout the campaign or side quests of the game. His appearance is only featured on the game's physical map and the twelfth "Prominent Americans" cigarette card. MacAlister is also mentioned several times in-game.

During his presidency, MacAlister called for a ban on trade with Mexico in response to the Mexican government's decision to place troops across the border and deny entry to the country.[1]

MacAlister's presidency also featured a war in which Thaddeus Waxman led his troops to victory at the Battle of San Juan Hill in Guarma. Later, President MacAlister was said to have been assassinated, with Thaddeus Waxman succeeding him.[2]

Trivia[]

  • MacAlister shares a number of similarities with U.S. President William McKinley, including the period in which he was elected, assassination and similarities in overall appearance.
    • This is complicated by the fact William McKinley appears on the $10 bill in Red Dead Redemption. However, this could be retconned in favor of deviating from famous real world figures.
  • His cigarette card can be found at Crawdad Willies, in Bayou Nwa.
