For the Red Dead Redemption 2 horse breed, see Turkoman.

A dark bay horse. Normal speed.

–In-game description

The Turkmen is a horse and transport featured in Red Dead Redemption.

Description[]

The Turkmen is in the middle tier (two-star) of horses, with average speed and below average damage resistance. It is an excellent early choice of horse, with deeds for tier three horses likely to be too expensive until later in the game. The Turkmen is viable until the start of missions in Mexico, where better quality horses can be broken more easily. It is a bay horse with white markings.

Deed[]

In single player, a deed for the horse can be purchased. It costs $500 ($250 with high honor, or with low honor at Thieves' Landing).

Multiplayer[]

The Turkmen is the 3rd horse unlocked in Red Dead Redemption's Multiplayer mode. In comparison to the sickly looking Lusitano Nag, it appears to be much stronger and faster. This horse is most likely based after the "turkoman" horse. It would not be uncommon to see a change in spelling due to the vernacular of the time. It is unlocked at level 8.

Trivia[]

  • It is a standard mount but is a good way to get around in the world, especially during multiplayer. Getting a new mount is a good thing but until the player unlocks the next mount it is a fine mode of getting around.
  • The name of the breed indicates that it originates from Turkmenistan.
