You there, friend! Come get me out of this mess and I'll make it worth your while!
Floyd Brogles to John Marston

Floyd Brogles is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.

History[]

Background[]

Floyd is a small-time thug and pistolier. He seems to have once worked as a prospector given that the player can often find him digging for treasure and he occasionally mentions something along the lines of "Not again!" while being shot at at Gaptooth Breach. He can also be found engaging in criminal activities.

Events of Red Dead Redemption[]

Floyd plays a large role during the first playthrough of the Gaptooth Breach gang hideout. After talking to his dying partner, Clay Pettiford, Marston must fight through the Treasure Hunters in order to rescue Floyd. Floyd will then ask Marston to help him steal the Hunters' stash of treasure, and in return Marston will get a share. If Floyd isn't killed by gunfire, the two eventually reach the rear of the mine, where the stash is hidden. There, it becomes apparent that the "treasure" is only a couple of chests with nothing more than small amounts of money inside. Disappointed, Floyd lets Marston keep all of the loot while he sits on a box of dynamite and take a smoke. Once Marston leaves the room, a loud explosion will be heard or seen, implying that Floyd may have committed suicide or accidentally smoked too close to the TNT boxes.

Despite his "death", Floyd can often be found drinking and loitering around Thieves' Landing, Armadillo or Rathskeller Fork, as well as riding on horseback throughout numerous locations around New Austin and West Elizabeth. He may challenge the player to a duel depending on whether they have high or low fame. Floyd can sometimes be seen in random encounters where he partakes in criminal activities, such as horse theft.
