Gambler Challenges are gameplay challenges which involve playing various gambling games in the single-player of Red Dead Redemption 2.

These challenges must be done in order, progress made before they are activated does not count.

Challenges[]

  • Rank 1: Win five hands of Poker.
  • Rank 2: In Blackjack, double down and win the hand five times.
  • Rank 3: Win three games of Five Finger Fillet.
  • Rank 4: Bust one poker table out in each location (Flatneck Station, Saint Denis, Valentine).
  • Rank 5: Win three rounds of dominoes without drawing any tiles against two or fewer opponents.
  • Rank 6: Beat the blackjack dealer in two locations (Rhodes, Van Horn Trading Post).

  • Rank 8: Win three hands of blackjack, with three hits or more.
  • Rank 9: Win three games of dominoes in a row.
  • Rank 10: Win three hands of poker in a row.

Rank 1[]

Win five hands of Poker.
Reward: Gambler Holster
Tips
  • Straightforward, play small until you have it.
  • Going all in can help achieve this, often making the opponents fold.
  • Playing Poker during "Who is Not Without Sin" can also help achieve this challenge easily.

Rank 2[]

In Blackjack, double down and win the hand five times.
Reward: 25 Dead Eye XP and $5
Tips

Just always double down if you have more than 10.

Rank 3[]

Win three games of Five Finger Fillet.
Reward: Gambler Bandolier
Tips
  • You only need to win the first round, with the first opponent.
  • If there is no opponent, run for 10 seconds and come back.

Rank 4[]

Bust one Poker opponent out in each location (Flatneck Station, Saint Denis, Valentine).
Reward: 50 Dead Eye XP and $10
Tips
  • You need to bust a player out of the table, beating them and making them lose all their chips (ex. if they are all in and they lose).
  • Quit the game and run for 5 seconds away and come back for a new table when you have spent all your money.
  • Poker table locations:

Rank 5[]

Win three rounds of Dominoes without drawing any tiles against two or fewer opponents.
Reward: 50 Dead Eye XP and $10
Tips
  • This will be long. Play and wait until it works, leaving after the first or second round and coming back, in Saint Denis or Emerald Station.
  • Play your biggest/double tiles first.

Rank 6[]

Beat the Blackjack dealer in every location: (Rhodes, Van Horn Trading Post).
Reward: 100 Dead Eye XP and $15
Tips

Rank 7[]

Beat the Five Finger Fillet opponent in every location: (Strawberry, Valentine, Van Horn Trading Post).
Reward: Gambler Gun Belt
Tips

Rank 8[]

Win three hands of Blackjack, with three hits or more.
Reward: 100 Dead Eye XP and $15
Tips

This can be very long, since you can't skip anything. If you play continuously, play at least a hundred hands always hitting with the lowest bet, at Rhodes.

To speed up things:

  • Every time you get a hand you doubt can achieve 5 cards on, just leave the game and rejoin the table. This will only cost you $0.02 each time.
  • You should Ideally try to find a blackjack table with a single person, and sit next to him on the right, this will allow you to see your cards and be able to leave as soon as possible if they're not worth it, and you'll be able to play hands faster as well since there's less people to deal with for each turn.
  • Good starting hands are the Ace and number cards between 2 and 6, play those. Good luck!

Rank 9[]

Win three games of Dominoes in a row.
Reward: 150 Dead Eye XP and $20
Tips
  • You must win three full games of dominoes, not three rounds.
  • Sleep in your camp until a game of dominoes is available (7 am to 12 pm), go to Saint Denis or Emerald Station.
  • Saving will not preserve your progress.
  • If you are about to lose a game, you can quit it before your opponent plays a tile, so the last games you won will still count.
  • All Fives and All Threes are faster games than Draw. The theoretical maximum play per round is 35 or 36, respectively. In practice watch out if an opponent gets close to 80. If you don't see a score to 100 when it's your turn, exit the game and restart.
    • theoretical maximum play (All Fives) = 6-6 + 5-5 + 4-4 + 4th arm ending in 5 = 35
    • theoretical maximum play (All Fives) = 6-6 + 5-5 + 4-4 + 4th arm ending in 6 = 36
  • An easy way to win is to play the camp in the morning.
    • As you wake up at 6am, and the game is available at 7am, it's best to sleep somewhere close by, then fast-travel to camp to be on time (for example, if your camp is Horseshoe Overlook, sleep until morning at Emerald Ranch).
    • There will only be one opponent each time, so you can really have a strategy.
    • Play the highest values and doubles first, but always try to play a domino that will allow you to play the next move.
    • Try to block your opponent. It is more important to keep your opponent's score to the minimum than to try to win yourself.
    • If your opponent's score is over 30, abandon before he plays and start again the next day, as scores can sometimes reach 30 in one round if you are unlucky, causing you opponent to reach 60 and win.

Rank 10[]

Win three hands of Poker in a row.
Reward: Gambler Off-Hand Holster
Tips
  • Splitting the pot counts towards your win count.
  • Standing up from the Poker table resets the counter.
  • As with the Rank 1 challenge, just going all in can be a reliable way to win.
  • If the player has reached Chapter 4 in the story, they can simply play/replay the mission "A Fine Night of Debauchery" by getting two guaranteed wins, and then replay the mission "Who is Not Without Sin" from Chapter 2 to get the third guaranteed win.
