Gavin is a minor character mentioned in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Gavin was most likely born somewhere in the British Isles. Later in life, he, along with his friend Nigel, decided to leave Britain behind in their pursuit for a new life, and chose the United States as their destination. So, at some time prior to 1899, the two embarked on their journey and reached America.

At some point after reaching the New World, Nigel woke up and Gavin was gone. In 1899 and 1907, Nigel can be seen traversing the map in search for his lost friend.

Gavin himself is not seen in the game, however, his friend Nigel can be encountered on numerous occasions throughout the game. He tells the player about how he woke up one morning to find that his best friend, Gavin, had disappeared and still has not been located.

  • Gavin is not seen anywhere in the game.
  • The player can encounter his friend Nigel in 1907, where he appears to have gone insane due to the excessive searching. He appears much more unkempt and stressed than he did eight years before.
  • There is some speculation that Gavin simply doesn't exist and Nigel has always been crazy. The "Letter to Nigel from Tom" that you find after looting Nigel pokes holes in this hypothesis. However, Gavin is confirmed to exist because of his and Nigel's mutual friend Tom, and he also mentions Gavin's parents and a man named Brian Gold who all know Gavin in real life.
