* There is some speculation that Gavin simply doesn't exist and Nigel has always been crazy. The "Letter to Nigel from Tom" that you find after looting Nigel pokes holes in this hypothesis. However, Gavin is confirmed to exist because of his and Nigel's mutual friend Tom, and he also mentions Gavin's parents and a man named Brian Gold who all know Gavin in real life.

* There is also a strong possibility, that this is a subtle jab at Donald Trump by Rockstar. Donald Trump said at one of his presidential rallies 'Where's Gavin? Gavin!? I love Gavin" and continues to mention him throughout his speech, so this may very well just be Rockstar making fun out of him.
