Hey there, cowboy. This article looks a little bit small. I reckon you could impress me by contributing to it. Don't be shy now. |
The Giant Snake is an Easter Egg featured in Red Dead Redemption 2. It can be found in Scarlett Meadows, south of Pleasance.
Description[]
The Giant Snake is a massive, reddish-orange serpent lying dead in a tree south of Pleasance. It cannot be removed from the tree, and cannot be skinned. Despite its frightening appearance, it poses no threat to the player.

Trivia[]
- The Giant Snake might be inspired by The Peninsula Python or by "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil" from "Garden of Eden". It also could be a reference to the Giant Python of Boston "Helltown", Ohio, as the ghost town of nearby Pleasance is based on Boston.
- It could also be inspired by The Congo Snake, an allegedly 50ft-long snake that was supposedly photographed in 1959.
- It's possible it could also be a reference to how snakes like pythons, and boa constrictors are now considered an invasive species in the southern United States in real life, and how a few have been growing to massive sizes due to a lack of predators, and overabundance of food.
- It's also been speculated that it might be a cut Legendary Animal, although there is nothing in the game's code to suggest this.
- Given its similar appearance to other species of snake that only appear there, it could've also been originally intended to have appeared on Guarma.
- It doesn't have a journal entry since it isn't a Point of Interest and doesn't appear on the map after being found either.
- Either the snake or the tree it is hanging from will make a bell noise if the player is able to hit a specific spot with a lasso.
- The snake is not able to be hit with a lasso unless the player is up close.
Notes[]
- At some point an update to the game changed it so that the snake will disappear after the player's first time seeing it.[citation needed]
