Goats are a species of animal found in Red Dead Redemption.

Description[]

Goats can be found across the world of Redemption, typically near homesteads and ranches where they are kept by people. They are herbivores and do not attempt to harm the player, instead running away if the player gets too close. Goats come in 3 different colors: white, black, and brown.

Locations[]

There are many goats all across Mexico, a few can be found at Critchley's Ranch in New Austin, and Cochinay also has a population of goats.

Trivia[]

  • None of the official trailers feature goats. However, goats were shown in the Weazel News trailer for Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony as part of "archive footage". Rockstar Games later confirmed the footage with the goats was from (possibly a beta version at the time) Red Dead Redemption.
  • Due to being a domestic animal, killing a goat is not required for the Unnatural Selection trophy/achievement.
  • Goats are not undead like other animals in the Undead Nightmare DLC pack. This may be as goats are often associated with Satanic rituals, and as such are unaffected by the plague. In Undead Nightmare, they have a darker color, red eyes, and their horns are much longer. They are known as "Horned" goats. Also, if they are killed they will get thrown into a ragdoll state and disappear.
    • Rarely, the goat's body will stay, and if the player tries to search the corpse, they will ragdoll and die.
