The Gold Medal Objectives is a list of objectives to complete in order to get the best possible score in each mission. There are 104 Gold Medals from Story Missions. For the Gold Rush trophy and achievement players must earn 70 Gold Medals from Story Missions.
Mechanism[]
At the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 story missions, players will receive a medal based on how many of the optional objectives they complete. The rank of this medal is determined as follows:
- Bronze - complete fewer than half of the optional objectives
- Silver - complete half or more of the optional objectives
- Gold - complete all of the optional objectives
In order to get the gold medal, players must complete all medal requirements in one play-through of the mission.
While replaying a mission, players can check the completed tasks. Unfortunately, this cannot be done during the first play-through.
On their first play-through, the player can, of course, check the objectives on any guide, but it is not recommended, as some objectives may spoil important parts of the mission.
Common Objectives[]
- Complete with at least minimum % of accuracy.
- Complete the mission without taking any health items.
- Complete the mission within the time limit.
- Get a specific number of Head-shot.
- Take no damage during the shootout.
- Complete the mission using only sidearms.
Tips[]
- It’s worth noting that on replay, players will have no tonics and only some preset weapons. Therefore, it’s much more difficult to get the gold medal on replay. The easiest option is to make a manual save before each mission during the main play-through. So players can reload the manual save to try again. Additionally, players can control with what inventory and horse they go into the mission.
- Nevertheless, there are many points during the story where players have to do several missions consecutively. The "manual-save" method might not be the most suitable way for this case.
- To achieve a minimum percentage of accuracy, players need to be extra careful during the firefight because only shots hitting on living enemies will be counted as “hit”. Shooting at dead enemies or anything else are counted as “miss”.
- Avoid shooting an enemy more than one shot at a time as if the enemy dies from the first shot, all following shots will automatically be counted as "miss".
- Before starting a mission with the "Complete the mission without taking any health items" objective, it's a good idea to eat Minty Big Game or any foods that can strengthen a health core. This will help players absorb more damage than normal.
- Skipping cutscenes typically help in completing missions within the time limit. However, there are some missions that players will automatically fail the time limit requirement if they skip any cutscenes.
- Retrying a mission from the last checkpoint will cause players to fail the "Complete the mission without taking any health items" objective.
