He's British, of Course is a Stranger mission featured in Red Dead Redemption 2. The quest becomes available during Chapter 3.

Story[]

Part I[]

The mission begins once the player finds a destroyed caravan in Lemoyne. Beside it is a man called Margaret, a circus performer who dresses as a woman and fights exotic animals.

He informs the protagonist his three animals, a zebra, lion and tiger, have escaped and are on the loose. He asks for the player's help to find his missing creatures.

Part II[]

The first animal is the zebra, which can be found near Emerald Ranch. After finding it, the protagonist notices that it isn't really a zebra, just a mule painted in zebra colors. The player can either lasso the "zebra", or mount it and ride it back instead.

Part III[]

Upon returning the "zebra", Margaret tells the protagonist to help his assistant, Sally Nash, to find the second animal, the tiger. Sally can be found just northeast of Rhodes. She states that she sent a dog made to look like a lion search for the tiger. She asks the protagonist to look for the dog, which is found dead. Sally reveals that the "tiger" is actually a cougar wearing paint. The protagonist uses the dead dog as bait for the cougar's cage and hides behind a log until the cougar comes. After the cougar enters the cage the protagonist closes the door and drives it back to Margaret with Sally.

Part IV[]

Margaret instructs the protagonist to find his last animal, the lion, in the area around Emerald Ranch. Upon arriving there, the protagonist spots two scared men holding the barn doors shut. The protagonist investigates the barn, and suddenly the lion escapes, killing one of the men outside the barn; the protagonist realizes that it is a real lion and not a fake. They chase the lion to a nearby stable where they kill it. The player can then take its paw to craft the Lion's Paw Trinket.

Part V[]

The protagonist returns to Margaret and Sally to tell them what happened and berates Margaret for not telling them that the lion was a real one and the deaths in Emerald Ranch. As he and Sally are leaving, Margaret gives the protagonist an emerald as a reward for helping him to return his animals.

Missable Items in the Mission[]

  • Lion's Paw: Can be taken as a reward after killing a lion.

Trivia[]

  • The player is able to follow Margaret and Sally after the last part of the mission after they leave with the wagons. Following them leads them through Rhodes, where they then turn around and go through Emerald Ranch. Margaret and Sally then pass Guthrie Farm, pass Emerald Station, and go back through Emerald Ranch. Margaret will also comment on the player following them.
  • The fake "zebra" is a reference to the last unlockable mount in Red Dead Redemption: Multiplayer, the Zebra Donkey.
  • If the protagonist rides the "zebra" while returning it, any passing NPCs on horses will laugh and taunt them about it.
  • In the first Red Dead Redemption, multiple NPCs gossip about a cougar, tiger, or lion being held in a barn by the residents of Hennigan's Stead. This concept was later reused for these series of missions.
  • The PED model of the lion has a scar on his right eye, which may be a subtle reference to Scar from The Lion King.
  • The player taking the lion's paw as a trophy is a reference to a scene from the 2015 movie Victor Frankenstein, wherein Doctor Frankenstein murders the circus lion and then tries to steal its paw for scientific purposes.
