The 1860 Henry Repeater Rifle is a weapon featured in Red Dead Redemption.

Description

The Henry Repeater is a lever-action rifle, with strong traditions in the Civil War. It fires a .44 caliber rimfire round, and makes use of lever-action loading mechanism.

Acquisition

Single Player

  • The weapon is obtained by completing the Nosalida gang hideout.

Undead Nightmare

  • Similar to the singleplayer, it can be obtained after saving Nosalida from a zombie invasion.

Multiplayer

  • The Henry Repeater is unlocked into the player's regular inventory upon reaching rank 32.
    • The "Henry Hurter" weapon challenges are unlocked at the same level. Completion of these challenges turns the weapon golden for the player.
  • It can also be obtained by killing another player who has the weapon equipped.
  • It is also carried by the Mexican Army.
  • It can be found on enemies in the Pike's basin gang hideouts, usually the reinforcements which arrive after you set the bombs for the crates (along with the Schofield and Double-Action Revolvers).
  • The weapon is part of the loadout for the attacking team at Fort Mercer in Stronghold. It is also available in chests during Shootouts and Bag Games at Armadillo and Tumbleweed.

Trivia

  • The Henry Rifle of 1860 was used by some Union troops during the Civil War, and was the direct ancestor of the Winchester series of lever actions, making it even more outdated than the in-game Winchester Repeater despite being more effective.
  • In the game, the Henry Repeater does the most damage per shot out of all repeaters. However, this is inaccurate as the Henry fired a .44 rimfire cartridge making it considerably weaker than its Winchester descendants.
  • Reloading is portrayed inaccurately, opening the lever and sliding rounds via a loading gate which the Henry did not have. However, this leads to speculation that the Henry may really be a Model 1866 Winchester Yellowboy or an 1866 Transition Model.
  • This reloading animation is used on all repeaters, even though some had rounds loaded entirely differently, such as the repeater carbine.
  • Pictures show the Henry Repeater with a forestock, like the 1866 Yellowboy Model, but the in-game model does not have one. This leans more to an 1866 Transition Model.
  • In Single Player, the Henry Repeater will kill most weaker enemies with a single chest shot. (Weaker enemies will not have trench coats.)
  • The Henry Repeater is very useful when hunting small animals and birds.
  • Many players accidentally come across this gun when trying to complete the mission "Poppycock" when the opium is in the Nosalida gang hideout.
  • The in game Henry Rifle holds up to 12 shots, this is inaccurate as the real life Henry held up to 16 shots.
