Hera

Hera is a supporting character featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

He served as the mount of Sadie Adler throughout 1907.

Background[]

Following Sadie's career into bounty hunting, she acquired Hera and took him out on her bounty hunting expeditions.

Beecher's Hope Chapter[]

Hera first appears in "Gainful Employment" outside of the Smithfield's Saloon, where he is then ridden by Sadie as she attempts to track down Nathan Kirk. After the capture of Kirk, Sadie places him on his back and rides off. After this, he is seen at the Blackwater Saloon where Sadie takes him to go and capture another bounty with John Marston and his horse. On the way, John remarks that he looks mean only for Sadie to concur. They capture the bounty, and head to the Blackwater Sheriff’s office to claim the reward. John then later meets with Sadie and Hera back in Blackwater, where they ride to take another bounty in Rhodes before the two ride off again. Sadie later rides him to Beecher's Hope, before going on another bounty hunt with John and his horse. For unknown reasons, Sadie does not ride him in "American Venom" and he is last seen with her leaving in the credits.

Personality[]

Sadie describes Hera as being mean, though this isn't shown to be the case during the limited time she rides him. The two don't really seem to have much of a bond, but they get along decently.

Appearance[]

He is almost purple in color, with a bunch of black spots and white shadings on his body. His face is mostly black, and the same can be said about his feathered legs. He has brown eyes and a black mane and tail.

Trivia[]

Although a stallion, Hera is likely named after the Greek goddess who protected married women, wedding, and marital loyalty, traits found in Sadie herself. Sadie also fulfills the role of protector by helping Abigail and her husband John.
Despite being called a "he" in one mission and sometimes having male anatomy, Hera appears to be a mare.
