Jack Hall was once the leader of the notorious Jack Hall Gang. They robbed banks across the land to California, but were eventually killed in New Hanover after burying treasure there.
- While in camp, members of the Van der Linde gang can sing the "Jack Hall" song, which contains numerous references to the James-Younger gang and the infamous Northfield bank robbery.
- With the "Jack Hall" song's references to "California" and the "Stillwater jail," Jack Hall appears to be based on a composite of brothers Cole Younger and Bob Younger. Cole claimed to have spent time in California, and Bob eventually died of tuberculosis in prison at Stillwater, Minnesota after serving several years there for his role in the Northfield robbery.
