Jeb continuing to mock Lenny

Jeb is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

History[]

Background[]

Jeb is presumably a resident of Valentine, New Hanover.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]

In "A Quiet Time", Arthur takes Lenny for a drink in Smithfield's Saloon to help calm him down after learning of Micah's arrest in Strawberry. At some point during the evening, Jeb interrupts Arthur and Lenny's conversation by mocking them. Arthur can threaten him, charm him, or beat him.

If the player chooses to beat him, Arthur slams Jeb against the bar counter, then drags him outside and tells him to leave. Choosing to threaten him results in Arthur stating that he'll kill him and warns Jeb to leave. The option to charm Jeb has Arthur telling him that he's "one of the best", but wants to talk to Lenny in private. Irrespective of which choice the player makes, Jeb no longer harasses Arthur and Lenny.

As the duo continue to get drunk in the saloon, Jeb returns and joins them in drinking, but Arthur is annoyed at seeing him again; he takes Jeb outside to a water trough to drown him, where the player can choose to drown him more forcefully. If the dunking is successful, Arthur eventually relents after 3 dunks and Jeb falls to the ground exasperated. If the dunking is failed, Jeb escapes Arthur's grip and runs off. Regardless, Jeb goes and alerts the law to arrest Arthur and Lenny.

Eight years later, in the mission "Gainful Employment", Jeb and his friend Bubba are seen harassing Sadie Adler in Smithfield's Saloon. Bubba continues to antagonize Sadie until she stabs him in the hand, after which she smashes her glass into Jeb's face. John arrives and pulls the knife out of Bubba's hand, telling him and Jeb to get out of the saloon "before she kills us all!", to which the two men comply. Jeb is never seen again from this point onward.

Character[]

Personality[]

Jeb has no qualms with approaching someone he doesn't know and messing with them, either through passive insults or just plain annoyance. He seems to be a frequent patron of Smithfield's Saloon as 8 years later he's seen there again. It's possible that this mockery is an attempt to joke with and possibly meet new people, as when Jeb visits the bar later on in the day in "A Quiet Time", he attempts to be friendly with Arthur and Lenny before promptly being recognized and assaulted. Though, he will back off peacefully if kindly asked to do so.

Appearance[]

Jeb has reddish-brown hair with muttonchops, and blue eyes. He wears a brown coat, a dark green vest with a white undershirt and a green bowler hat. In his unused 1907 model he seems to have shaved his muttonchops for a more shaven appearance.

Trivia[]

  • Jeb is labeled as "stranger" in subtitles. His name can be found in the game files for his character model.[1]
  • Despite looking the exact same in both time periods, Jeb has an unused model for 1907 featuring a blue coat and longer hair.
