At some point prior to 1899, Kieran was forced into becoming a member of the O'Driscoll Boys, a rival of the Van der Linde gang.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2

Colter Chapter

As the Van der Linde gang head back from attacking the O'Driscoll camp, they come across Kieran, who is seen fleeing on horseback. Arthur eventually captures him and takes him back to camp, and Dutch orders his gang to lock him up in one of the cabins and not give him food until he talks. Kieran tells them that he was part of the O'Driscoll gang unwillingly, and that he hates Colm O'Driscoll.

Horseshoe Overlook Chapter

When the gang settles near Valentine, Kieran is seen tied up to a tree, looking malnourished and weak. The gang decides to interrogate him again and threaten him, so Kieran then again tells them that he hates Colm. After the gang threatens to use gelding tongs on him, he then tells them that he knows where one of Colm's supposed safehouses is located. He leads Arthur, John, and Bill to Six Point Cabin, the supposed safehouse of Colm's. After Arthur and his associates clears out the camp of O'Driscoll memebers he heads for cabin in the rear of the camp, assuming that Colm is hiding there on account of his body not being among those they killed. As Athur opens the door he is jumped by a O'Driscoll goon that shoves him to the ground and was about to shoot Arthur, but Kieran managed to get a gun and killed shoot the man, saving Arthur's life. When Arthur searches for Colm O'Driscoll agian inside the cabin, he isn't there. Arthur assumes that Kieran lied to them about Colm O'Driscoll's whereabouts to set them up, and points his gun at him, but Kieran quickly argues that he would not have saved Arthur just moments earlier if that were the case. Arthur hesitantly sets him free, beliving he has done enough to earn his feedom, Kieran insists that rather than running off on his own he should join the Van der Linde gang because he just made the O'Driscolls his enemies aswell as the fact he would probably die in the wild anyway. Arthur, after some more convincing, agrees to bring him back to camp at Horseshoe Overlook. When first returning to the camp after this quest a event will happen where Bill is teasing Kerian about caststrating him with gelding tongs again to which Keiran eventually runs off.

Saint Denis Chapter

At some point after the gang relocated into Shady Belle, Kieran was captured by the O'Driscolls. He was tortured until they found out the Van der Linde gang's location. After he had told them everything he was killed and decapitated, his body was then sent to the new Van der Linde on horseback. His body was tied up so that Kieran's decpitated corpe was holding his head in his cupped hands, resembling the supernatural entity "The Headless Horseman". Soon after this desplay waves of O'Driscolls sprung from the trees and attacking the house.

After the gunfight Dutch and the rest of the gang gathered around his corpe, which had since fell off the horse during the gunfight, and mourned his death. Dutch then ordered Mr. Swanson bury somewhere "close, but not to close". His death shook several members, including Arthur, Bill and Mary-Beth.

Trivia

• Based on dialogue in the mission "No, No and Thrice, No", Susan Grimshaw mentions that she hadn't seen Kieran around the camp recently, alluding to his eventual demise.
• His grave site can be found near Bolger's Blade. This can be visited after "Horsemen, Apocalypses".
