Lagras is a bayou settlement in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne.
Description[]
Lagras is a small and tightly-knit settlement nestled within the swamps of Lemoyne, situated just north of Saint Denis, the largest settlement in the Red Dead series. Rooted in its Creole origins, Lagras bears the cultural influence of its African-American inhabitants who format the predominant population of this town. The inhabitants of Lagras are fairly humble and hospitable to the player.
The town of Lagras embodies a relaxed atmosphere, with its primary industry centered around fishing. Few other industries are present, as the bayou terrain makes other activities like farming near impossible.
Lagras experiences predominantly high temperatures, rarely dropping below 20 degrees Celsius (approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit). Geographically speaking, Lagras finds itself located on a similar latitude as Riggs Station in West Elizabeth, despite having a wildly different climate.
Layout[]
Lagras is a small settlement, being fairly secluded in the swamps of Lemoyne. Accessible by a single road on other side, the town maintains a limited connection with the outside world. Positioned on a narrow isthmus, Lagras is flanked by the Kamassa River to the west and a neighboring lake to the east.
On the shoreline of the Kamassa River, several buildings line the shore, with many of the town’s residents living there.
Adjacent to the lake, an exclusive bait and tackle shop serves as a notable landmark within the settlement. This establishment stands as the sole location on the entire map where players can buy a comprehensive selection of exclusively fishing supplies.
Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Lagras is first introduced in the story in Chapter 4, being where Dutch van der Linde and several other members of his outlaw gang plot the vengeful murder of Saint Denis mobster Angelo Bronte. The town is first introduced in the mission, “Country Pursuits,” where Arthur Morgan and Dutch meet a resident of Lagras named Thomas, who is willing to let them use a boat which they can use to sneak into Bronte’s mansion. However, Thomas does not have the boat because he gave it to his friend, Jules, and he has been missing for quite a while. Arthur finds Jules, who is hiding up a tree and warning Arthur of a “monster,” which turns out to be the legendary Bullgator. Eventually, they escape the beast, although Jules sustains an injury on his leg, and make it back to Lagras.
Later on, Arthur returns to Lagras to meet Dutch in the mission, “Revenge is a Dish Best Eaten,” where Arthur meets up with Bill, John, Dutch, Lenny, and Thomas on the boat. They leave Lagras and head for Bronte’s private dock in Saint Denis, where they will ambush and kill Angelo Bronte. After this mission, Lagras does not appear again in the main storyline of Red Dead Redemption 2.
