Legendary animals are exceptionally rare animals that are stronger, faster and more profitable than their more common counterparts. They appear in both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2. Once the player has found and killed one of them, it will never appear again in the same save file.
Red Dead Redemption
Wearing the Expert Hunter Outfit while hunting these animals will net the player two of each piece of loot, with the exception of the animal's heart, when skinned. As the components from these legendary animals have great value, this strategy is highly recommended.
Single-player
Khan the Jaguar
- Main article: Khan the Jaguar
To complete Master Hunter Challenge Rank 9, locate Khan near Ojo del Diablo. He comes out more commonly during the day.
Gordo the Boar
- Main article: Gordo the Boar
To complete 1/3 of Master Hunter Challenge Rank 10, locate Gordo near Stillwater Creek, just west of Thieves' Landing.
Lobo the Wolf
- Main article: Lobo the Wolf
To complete 1/3 of Master Hunter Challenge Rank 10, locate Lobo near Aurora Basin, in the Northwest end of Tall Trees in West Elizabeth.
Brumas the Bear

To complete 1/3 of Master Hunter Challenge Rank 10, locate Brumas at the top of Nekoti Rock or near it, just north of Tall Trees in West Elizabeth.
Multiplayer
Demi the Cougar

She can only be found in the Liars and Cheats DLC while playing in Free Roam on the Silent Stead hunting ground.
Keifer the Wolf

He can only be found in the Liars and Cheats DLC while playing in Free Roam on the Rio del Lobo hunting ground.
Roberto the Bobcat

He can only be found in the Liars and Cheats DLC while playing in Free Roam on the Roca de Madera hunting ground.
Wilbur the Boar

Legendary animals can be encountered in some missions, but will more frequently be located in the wild. Once players enter an area that contains a legendary animal, they will begin receiving a series of clues when using Eagle Eye. The third clue will lead directly to the animal. Below is a listing of the animals and their approximate locations.
