Melvin can most often be found around Thieves' Landing, frequently loitering inside the saloon and around the brothel, as well as Manzanita Post, where he commonly plays Five Finger Fillet. He can also be encountered at the Tumbleweed gang hideout, though he will be hostile.

Undead Nightmare

In Undead Nightmare, Melvin can be found defending the settlement of Cochinay where he is the sole survivor. If Cochinay is saved, he will patrol the fort's battlements.

He also can be seen fighting off Undead in the wilderness along with Solomon Flake and Silas Gaskell. If he survives he says he will head to Fort Mercer, in which he can be found.

• He has one of the highest bounties in the game at $300 or $600 respectively. This also goes for Zebedee Nash, Kent Gallaway, Americus Roe, and Hestor Frith.
• Sometimes in Undead Nightmare, Melvin may be overheard talking about his son that he had to kill when he became Undead.
• Melvin seems to be very close friends with Americus Roe. An example of this is if the player attacks Roe in Manzanita Post, Melvin will immediately fire upon and attack the player. And vice versa.
